Gavin Newsom proposes 28th amendment, likely to infringe on 2A rights

California is recognized as the unofficial sidewalk poop capitol of the world, but Democrat Gavin Newsom has proposed the 28th amendment to the United States Constitution and that might take away from the filthy sidewalk headlines for a little bit. Gavin Newsome, one of the most hated Democrats in America, had posted the following video and message on his Twitter account. The message said:

NEW: I’m proposing the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution to help end our nation’s gun violence crisis.

The American people are sick of Congress’ inaction.

The 28th will enshrine 4 widely supported gun safety freedoms -- while leaving the 2nd Amendment intact:

1) Raising the minimum age to purchase a gun to 21

2) Universal background checks

3) A reasonable waiting period for gun purchases

4) Banning the civilian purchase of assault weapons

As expected, many people wrote comments back insulting Gavin Newsom, mocking him for letting California 'fall to sh*t' because of the public poop problem they're dealing with. Many Twitter users also asked questions like "is anyone still living in California, or is it just you" and "do you have to practice to be this bad, or is it just natural since you're a Democrat?"

Since this is just a proposal, there's nothing for 2A enthusiasts to worry about and there's only a very small chance it passes. Two thirds of states would need to propose the same amendment, triggering a constitutional convention where three fourths of the states would have to vote yes and that seems unlikely to happen with most of the Republican-lead states.
