Former 'Dawson's Creek' and 'Varsity Blues' actor James Van Der Beek torched the Democratic National Committee for their plans to skip primary debates between President Joe Biden and any other presidential candidates running in the 2024 election. Van Der Beek was very vocal in his video that was posted on TikTok and even closed the comments because he says the only people who should be debating are the candidates. He further destroyed the DNC by suggesting they are not supportive of a Democracy if they're not willing to debate, they're just a machine who installs candidates despite what the people of America really want.
Van Der Beek said:
"I mean, what the hell? How is this a democracy? I cannot get over the fact that the Democratic National Committee is saying there will not be a debate to decide the nominee for president. Are you f---ing kidding me? There’s no debate? There’s no debate over an 80-year-old man who, if he lives, will be the oldest sitting president in the history of the country? And if he doesn’t live, has a vice president whose approval rating is worse than his? This guy has obviously declining mental faculties... You’re putting him up in front of a podium with flashcards telling him who to call on and what the questions are going to be. And you’re telling us there’s no debate? What about the will of the people?"
Van Der Beek continued:
"If we don’t have a debate, this is not a democracy by the people, this is a democracy by them. For who? Big banks? Big business? Big tech, big pharma, big government, big whatever."
The actor also called out politicians who preach about democracy and soldiers giving the ultimate sacrifice fighting for America, but told them they better not preach about anything on social media if they're not even willing to have a presidential debate so the American people can be more informed about the possible candidates.
