Nate Diaz jailed and released, accused of choking out TikToker on video

Nate Diaz had a warrant out for his arrest after the video above surfaced and he turned himself in this morning. He was temporarily in police custody at the New Orleans Police Department, posted bond, and released. Other news outlets are saying "Nate Diaz jailed" but he's not in jail. He's out and his representation issued a statement saying they declare this was self-defense.

Watch the video above and see for yourself. I think Nate Diaz will win this because it happened during a brawl on Bourbon Street and it's hard to know what happened right before the video, so it may be hard to charge Nate Diaz with anything if the details before the choke are murky. Who's to say the other guy didn't start the fight and the only part on film is Nate finishing it. Nate didn't even punch the guy, just calmly choked him out. I'm not authority, the law, or a judge or a jury. I'm just some dude on the Internet who laughed when I saw a TikToker choked out on the concrete when they thought approaching a famous fighter during a brawl was a good idea. Bro, what did you think would happen? That's Nate Diaz dude, he fights warriors and TikTokers are just guys making videos at home and probably don't even go to the gym LOL. Of course, that's MY opinion, not to be confused with facts or whatever for all you fact checkers out there.

What were the details of Nate Diaz's arrest warrant? MMA Fighting had the information in a news report on Nate Diaz arrest warrant:

The arrest warrant is for suspicion of second-degree battery. Such charges are considered a felony in Louisiana and carry a potential penalty of up to eight years in prison “with or without hard labor” and/or up to a $2,000 fine.

Following his booking, Diaz was allowed to post bond for his release from custody with no travel restrictions placed on him by the courts.

“Bond has been granted and posted with the full permission from the court to resume travel which includes returning to Stockton today,” Rosenfield said in a statement sent to MMA Fighting. “We appreciate how we were treated by the New Orleans Police Department, the court and their staff.”

Diaz attended Misfits Boxing 6 in New Orleans this past Friday and was involved in two separate altercations, first nearly getting into a scrap with reality TV star Chase DeMoor and then later in the evening finding himself in a fight with Logan Paul lookalike Rodney Petersen, the latter of whom was choked unconscious by Diaz.

It is not yet known if Diaz’s legal issues will affect his upcoming boxing match with Jake Paul, which is scheduled to take place Aug. 5 in Dallas.
