Flyers defenseman rejected Pride Night rainbow jersey, explained why in postgame interview

Philadelphia Flyers defender Ivan Provorov refused to wear the rainbow-themed jersey and skipped the warm-up skating. The Flyers beat the Ducks 5-2 and after the game, the reporters of course asked about why he skipped the warm-ups and didn't wear the rainbow jersey. Provorov said exactly how he felt and didn't hold back. Provorov said: "I respect everybody and I respect everybody’s choices. My choice is to stay true to myself and my religion."

The guy means no disrespect to the rainbow community, but he does not feel it's his job to wear anything or promote anything that supports them. After all, why is this even in sports to begin with? These guys are hockey players, not social justice warriors, and it's time for the social justice nonsense to be removed from sports. People are sick and tired of their sports turning into political propaganda or social justice platforms. Just play some hockey and leave it at that!

To make things better, Flyers coach John Tortorella stood by his player's decision to make his own mind. Provorov was not benched during the game or anything either, so that's good.

Outkick had a statement from the Flyers which was rather disappointing:

“The Philadelphia Flyers organization is committed to inclusivity and is proud to support the LGBTQ+ community,” a Flyers spokesman said. “Many of our players are active in their support of local LGBTQ+ organizations, and we were proud to host our annual Pride Night again this year. The Flyers will continue to be strong advocates for inclusivity and the LGBTQ+ community.”

That's nonsense. The Philadelphia Flyers need to stick to hockey and stop trying to appeal to every little minute crowd of social justice people and activists. And for crying out loud, can the rainbow crowd stop forcing their lifestyles on everyone? That would be nice. Do whatever you want, but stop forcing it upon others. People are getting annoyed and it's causing resentment towards the alphabet people.

Do whatever you want with your life, but for pete's sake (who the heck is pete?) just stop pushing this on everyone else. Not everyone is into it or cares.
