LA removes 'No U-Turn' traffic signs over 'homophobia'

You can't make this stuff up! LA City Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez said they were taking down 'no u-turn' traffic signs because they allegedly were offensive or targeting to the LGBT people. NBC Montana reported on it, saying the following:

The councilmember explained the “No U-turn” and “No Cruising” signs in the Silver Lake neighborhood were installed in 1997 to “target and persecute” the LGBT community. Gay men reportedly used cruising to meet, flirt and take party drugs with one another, according to the LA Times.

This type of homophobia persisted in Silver Lake 30 years after the Black Cat protests, and the physical remnants of that bigotry remained on our streets until yesterday, when we joined @nithyavramanto finally take the signs down!” Soto-Martínez wrote.
